VenueHub co-founder and self-confessed venue expert Adam Whiting is on the road again in his quest to reveal some new great party and events venues. This time he's ended up in bustling Jordan on the hunt for some authentic Japanese robatayaki and sake!
Hong Kongers simply love Japanese cuisine. With the city boasting over 2,000 Japanese restaurants, there's a seemingly endless choice - you're probably never too far away from one in any area of Hong Kong! Personally speaking, I’m not the keenest sushi fan, which does put me in the minority in this raw fish-obsessed city, but robatayaki and teppanyaki washed down with sake is certainly something that excites my taste buds!
When it comes to parties and events, it’s becoming more and more popular to host them in an authentic Japanese restaurant. Which brings me to Tamashii in Jordan. Located on Yan Cheung Road, Tamashii specialises in authentic Japanese robatayaki or ‘fireside cooking’ which is the ultimate comfort food – including items such grilled meats and seafood slow-grilled over hot charcoal. This is also the perfect place for friends or business associates to get together for casual drinks, snacks and celebrations.
This cozy venue with nice decor seats a relatively modest 35 people (60 standing) but this sense of intimacy makes it the perfect venue for a small party, celebration or event. With a good choice of drinks and sake, it’s also suitable for a casual cocktail party, with some great robatayaki snacks!
Located in Jordan, another advantage of this rather hidden venue is the extremely reasonable pricing. Evening parties booking out the entire venue only require a minimum spend of just $5,000 on weekdays or $8,000 on weekends, which with 35 guests only requires a spend per head of just $142 and $228 each respectively. Now that really is excellent value in this increasingly expensive city! And before people point to Jordan's less-than-glamorous location, I would remind them it's only 2 MTR stops from Admiralty!
Overall, I found the food and drink to be excellent. It’s definitely a possible contender for the venue for our staff Christmas party!
