'Weather’ or not to insure your event?
It’s been months in the planning and your event is about to launch, you feel relieved and ecstatic, lets face it emotions are running at a high! If it's a wedding that has been planned you will soon stretched out on a sandy beach for your honey-moon with your loved one... or perhaps you will simply enjoy a glass of champagne at the closing curtain of your event.
Insuring the big day may not have crossed your mind, but many weddings and events have some sort of outdoor theme, so it is definitely worth managing this risk after spending so much time and money on such an important day.
Weather forecasts issued by The Hong Kong Observatory this year indicate that there may be far more storms and potential T3-T8's, and a canceled wedding or event is costly. See this article from the SCMP.
This risk can be offset with an an event insurance package covering public liability, cancellation due to bad weather/avian flu/terrorism and even the inability of one of the main participants being unable to attend, for example due to sickness or injury.
Don't forget to manage your risk correctly by exploring some form of insurance coverage that protects you in the event of a cancellation that is beyond your control.
